An Interrogative Review of
Requirement Engineering Frameworks |
Authors |
Muhammad Husnain & Muhammad Waseem |
Abstract |
The primary measure of success of
a software system is the level to which it meets the purpose for which
it was projected and requirements engineering (RE) is the process of
discovering that purpose. The RE process includes five distinct phases:
Requirements Elicitation, Requirements Analysis & Negotiation,
Requirements Documentation, Requirements Verification & Validation, and
Requirements Management. There are a number of inherent difficulties and
their proposed solutions for RE phases. Framework is one of the possible
ways for finding solution of those problems. It is a hot area of RE.
Frameworks commonly used to combine the techniques on a specific
problem, topic or area. In this paper we are going to review the
literature of RE frameworks. The survey is organized according to a
conceptual framework which will analyze the 1) problem statement; 2)
Domain; 3) proposed solution; 4) RE phases discussed; 5) RE phases not
discussed and 6) reusability. This paper also presents the issues which
are still open to further research. |

Abstract |
Focus of Aspect Oriented Software
Development is on the identification, separation, representation and
composition of crosscutting concerns. Crosscutting concerns behavior
effects the whole system development. Traditional requirement
engineering process does not cater for these crosscutting concerns. A
new aspect oriented requirement engineering process is proposed to
overcome this deficiency. Focus of this research activity is to justify
why this new aspect oriented requirement engineering process is needed. |

APPLYING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL
NETWORKS TO THE DESIGN OF ABNORMAL DIAGNOSIS FOR POWER TRANSFORMERS |
Authors |
Chen-Feng Wu & Cheng-I Hou |
Abstract |
It is not overstated that
transformer is the heart of electrical system. A step-up transformer is
used to reduce the power losses when the step-down transformer provides
the various levels of voltage to the customers. Transformer is one of
the most expensive and important electrical equipments installed in a
power system. Any fault occurs in a main transformer will cause in the
malfunction of whole power system. Those materials used in the interior
parts of a transformer include insulated paper, stereotype paperboards,
wood, dioxin resin, optical fiber, and insulation oil. The property of
their insulation level could be deteriorated due to the change of
ambient temperature and humidity in the long time operation. Thus, an
inevitable fault may occur owing to the poor insulation.
This paper aims at discovering and analyzing those abnormal symptoms in
the earlier stage and takes remedies in time. In addition to the
periodic examination of the transformers, a regular testing of the
isolation oil is the widely adopted technique to observe the operating
situations and performance of the insulation oil inside the power
transformers. The disadvantage of the above method is that it cannot
grasp the dynamic state of transformer that a possible danger would take
place anytime.
This paper presents a diagnostic system which includes a PC computer and
an on-line gas detector to monitor a transformer located at Tainan
Primary Substation in Taiwan. Through on-line monitoring the
concentrations of the dissolved gases, the proposed diagnostic system
offers a way to interpret the incipient fault causes. The artificial
neural network (ANN) algorithm is employed to analyze the types of
faults. |

CHEBARO |
Abstract |
In the last decade, many research
projects have focused on algorithms for segmentation and indexing of
multimedia contents, many multimedia indexing tools has been developed
by research laboratories. However many indexes need to be produced by a
sequence of tools chained in a given order.
In this paper, we present a distributed platform for automatic
multimedia indexing. This platform allows the automatic chaining of
multimedia indexing tools in order to produce an expected index. We
propose an algorithm for chaining multimedia indexing tools based on the
input/output data type compatibility. This algorithm uses a backward
recursive tracking to construct the chain(s) able to generate a given
index. We propose scenarios to ensure the consistency of the automatic
constructed chain(s). Distributed multimedia indexing tools are
accessible via web services. A generic wrapper allows the easy
integration of multimedia executable tools on the platform. The
communication is based on SOAP/RPC protocol A central server plays the
role of a repository and allows a centralised access to the platform. |

Abstract |
This paper discusses software
requirements engineering in deep with the help of the standard
technologies, processes and methodologies. Requirements engineering is
the initial step of software development activity in which the
requirements from the customer are elicited and documented. This
activity is very much vital for the success of the project because all
of the rest of activities depends upon requirements engineering such as
designing, implementation, testing, operation and maintenance.
Requirements engineering is an iterative process which continues
iteratively until the project is complete. The requirements engineering
process models are the set of activities used to define the life cycle
model for requirements engineering. There are many requirements
engineering process models such as linear sequential model, linear
iterative processes model, iterative process model and spiral model.
These models have certain advantages and disadvantages hence there is no
ideal requirements engineering process model but the problems with
requirements engineering process models can be minimized by making the
active involvement of the stakeholders whose concerns need to be
addressed. The other main element in requirements engineering is the
utilization of tools for requirements elicitation. The variety of tools
exists such as interview, survey, questionnaires, task analysis,
group-work, card sorting, CRC cards, observations, prototyping,
repository grids etc. These tools are usually used in the conjunction so
that complete requirements are elicited. The requirements engineering
process can be automate by utilizing modern technology such as Neural
Impulse Actuator (NIA) and web-based mobile technology. These
technologies make advancement in the requirements engineering tools by
automating them. For example NIA reads the human mind and we- based
mobile technology provides the internet facility for stakeholder
communication and also provides the dynamic plotting and arrangement of
CRC cards, group tasks, charts, bars etc. The whole study has been
grouped into requirements engineering processes, tools, technologies and
methodologies along with their negative and positive aspects and also
our suggested approaches. We also suggested the use of new technologies
to automate the requirements engineering process. |

INTERPLAY BETWEEN MULTIPLE
ALIGNMENT AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF PROTEINS: SEQUENCE VERSUS STRUCTURE
SIMILARITY. (Short Review) |
Authors |

Abstract |
The rapid increase in experimental
data ,along with recent progress in computational methods has brought
modern biology a step closer towards solving one of the most challenging
problems: prediction of protein function and sequence versus structure
similarity. A protein sequence is an important piece of information , it
becomes more revealing and valuable when compared with others from a
variety of different organisms. Protein function at its most basic level
requires understanding of molecular interactions. This paper presents
the up-to-date advances in computational methods for structural pattern
discovery and for prediction of molecular associations. We focused on
the role of multiple alignments to identify the most significant regions
of a sequence - Conserved residues . Conserved residues are often key to
predicting a protein function. Going further, by precisely locating
these conserved residues in space, provides clues to their biological
roles. The strict conservation of these residues suggests that, they
have a specific role in the protein function , such as participating in
an interaction with another protein or a small molecule. |

Abstract |
Electronic commerce has gained a rapid growth and it has
a significant impact on market of all the countries. Credit Card has
become a de facto standard for online payments. This increase use of
credit card has raised fraudulent practices across the world. There are
no secure well defined ways to deal with credit card frauds in
developing countries. This research focuses on card not present fraud
in developing countries. Existing techniques of developed countries have
been studied and a new system is proposed which consists of predefined
checks and data is transmitted by using a pair of symmetric keys. These
checks have been designed by studying the characteristics of both
fraudulent and legitimate transactions. The proposed system was tested
on a data set and it successfully detected both fraudulent and
legitimate transactions. |
